Notes:

Publications 214-216 correspond to the August 1979 Symposium on the Design and Construction of Recreational Power Boats

Reports 274-277 deal with pioneering developments in manning practices aboard the merchant fleets of northern Europe. Radical reductions in crew complements require changes in management, in work practices, in crew training and in social life as well as in technology. These reports stress the necessity of effecting sucessfull compromises between technical, economic, and human factors in the design of merchant ships for operation in a highly competitive world. The fleets of northern Europe are world leaders in this development and U. S. shipowners can benefit from what has been learned across the Atlantic.
