MHL helps the US bring home the Bronze.

Using the results of testing performed at the MHL in April, the US Rowing Team won a Bronze medal in the men's eight in the Beijing Olympics this summer. Congratulations to the US Olympic Rowing Team and all the staff and students at the MHL that helped with the testing!

GLOS buoy ready to splash

As part of the open water GLOS initiative for 2008, the MHL has designed and fabricated a coastal monitoring buoy that delivers wind and wave data every ten minutes via cellular modem. The MHL is currently working on the finishing touches and plans to deploy the buoy off Old Mission Point in Grand Traverse Bay in mid October.

BathyBoat goes to the North Slope

The MHL in partnership with Michigan Tech Research Institute deployed the BathyBoat and ALWAS in surface lakes throughout the North Slope of Alaska. The instruments were deployed to collect water quality data as well as record the bathymetry of the lakes. The data will be used to provide a baseline of environmental data for the area for use in sound resource management and decision making.

Senator Levin visits the Michigan Robotics & Autonomous Technologies Conference

The purpose of his visit was to learn more about the robotics capabilities of the college for both civilian and military applications. The MHL also attended, demonstrating the capabilities of the Bathyboat and the Flying Fish in the Lurie Reflecting Pond.
