Fabrication, Instrumentation and Prototyping

The MHL's research and educational programs are supported by a variety of fabrication, prototyping and instrumentation facilities. Technical expertise in these areas includes welding, instrumentation, as well as machining and wood working shops.

Welding capabilities and certified welding technicians exist for all types of materials and material thicknesses including gas tungsten arc (TIG), shielded metal arc (Stick) and metal inert gas (MIG) welding.

A machine shop and a complete wood working/composite material shop are available for the construction and fabrication of models, instrumentation, specialized experimental and testing equipment and prototyping. A separate heated paint shop is available for model finishing and detailing. A staff of highly trained technicians is available to support all projects.

Engineering support personnel are available for development and integration of highly unique hardware and software systems. A full suite of testing equipment and fabrication tools is available for use by testing and research programs.
