The MHL is located on the first floor of West Hall on main campus. It consists of the main model basin, a low turbulence free surface water channel, a gravity-capillary water wave tank, a propeller tunnel for student use, and a two-dimensional gravity wave tank. The MHL is used in several group courses and for individual directed studies.

The OEL is equipped with an extensive array of field data aquisition devices ranging from conventional survey equipment, wave and current monitoring instrumentation, to a new state-of-the-art underwater remote-operated vehicle for education and research (M-ROVER). The OEL also houses an array of dive gear, surface supply, and tether equipment.

The NA&ME Reference Room circulating collection is available to students, faculty and staff of the NA&ME Department, as well as to faculty of other UM departments. The NA&ME Reference Room non-circulating collection may be used in the Reference Room by students of other UM departments during Reference Room hours.
