Financial support from the Department is available for eligible students in a number of ways:
- Fellowships
- Research Assistantships
- Graduate Student Instructorships
Application for all types of aid should be indicated on the application for admission. Complete applications accompanied by a statement of purpose, personal statement, official GRE general test scores (minimum score of 1200 with a 4.0 on the writing), transcripts, and 3 letters of recommendation are due by January 15. Any delay beyond this date may reduce the chance of receiving an offer. Award notification will be made by April 1.

SNAME Graduate Scholarship
The Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers awards at least 6 graduate scholarships each year to U.S. and Canadian citizens. The application deadline is February 1.

NDSEG Fellowship Program
The Department of Defense offers a three-year, National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship for advanced study in fields which include naval architecture and marine engineering (U.S. citizens only). The application deadline is in early January.
