Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) for international applicants
A score of 600 on the paper-based TOEFL with the TWE (test of written English), or 250 on the computer-based version, or 100 on the iBT is required for international students except those with a degree from a university that teaches using the English language. However, even in these cases, an English language score is preferred so that the admissions committee can know that the applicant is competent in the English language. Students who have not taken an English language test or receive a low grade in any part of the TOEFL and have matriculated at Michigan, may be required to be evaluated at the University of Michigan’s English Language Institute prior to registration their first term at Michigan.
TOEFL cannot be waived unless you have a degree from a university that teaches in English.
We accept two-year old scores.
