OVERVIEW
Chemical reactions occur in a variety of different systems and are essential in a number of technological areas including the automotive industry, the chemical and petroleum industries, fuel cell and fuel processing industries, and environmental engineering, The goal of this course is to provide a background in the practical aspects of kinetics, catalysis, and reaction engineering. The fundamentals of catalysis and transport will be applied in the analysis and design of reacting systems.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Chemical, environmental, mechanical, and electrical engineers, chemists and electrochemists, and others with a technical background will benefit from this course. Prerequisites: Although a brief review will be part of this course, participants should be familiar with basic concepts in kinetics. No prior experience in catalysis or reaction engineering is required.

LOCATION
This course will be held in Ann Arbor on The University of Michigan's North Campus. Ann Arbor is a 30-minute drive from the Detroit Metro Airport.

Applications should be submitted as far in advance as possible, using the form below. Preference will be given to early applicants in those cases where it is necessary to limit enrollment. Individuals who require additional time to obtain employer authorization may reserve space by submitting a completed application. An enrollment confirmation will be sent to you along with travel and course information.

Tuition
Tuition for the course is $1,295. Included in the fee is a complete set of course notes, continental breakfasts, and coffee breaks. Please mail a check, purchase order, or government contract with your application. Make checks payable to The University of Michigan, and designate the name(s) of applicant(s) on the check. If payment is not enclosed with your application, please be certain that your name is clearly designated on a check, purchase order, or contract when you send it.
Cancellations
Cancellations should be made as soon as possible by mail, fax, or telephone. Cancellations made up to two weeks before the start of the course will receive a full refund. No cancellations will be accepted after Monday, June 10. "No shows" will be billed the full tuition amount. The course registration may be transferred to another colleague at any time without charge.

The hotels most conveniently located near North Campus are the Holiday Inn North Campus, the Hampton Inn North, and the Red Roof Inn. Information on these hotels will be sent soon after enrollment.
