|
My research attempts to develop and test a new coarse-graining scheme for dilute
solutions of polymers. In this scheme, a systematic reduction of degrees of freedom is
performed in various stages to coarse-grain a fully atomistically detailed
polymer-solvent system to generate a final bead-spring model of the same. The
intermediate stages involve the replacement of the solvent molecules by a continuum and a
bead-rod model obtained through structure-based coarse-graining method.
I am also involved in studying phase behavior and ordering of lipids in bilayers with
various compositions. The study will lead to a better qualitative understanding of the
processes occurring on a cell membrane and the formation of rafts.
