Group Laboratory : 3440 GG Brown
The Glotzer Group lab is equipped with a wide range of Apple G5 PowerMac and Intel based iMac computers running FreeBSD UNIX based Mac OS X.
Mac OS X provides support for X11, and the opensource
Fink project provides ports of many popular Linux tools/applications
(also see Fink Commander for a convenient GUI for Fink).
These computers are connected via a gigabit ethernet jumbo frame network.
Additionally, the lab houses a multi-purpose collaboratorium equipped with an LCD projector, two iMac computers, and ample whiteboard space.
Duderstadt Center
Professor Glotzer teaches her graduate course ChE/MSE 557, Computational Nanoscience of Soft Materials, in the
Advanced Graphics Multimedia Laboratory in the University of Michigan Duderstadt Center (formerly the Media Union)
on North Campus. The Advanced Graphics Multimedia Laboratory houses the fastest, most up-to-date machines in a stadium-seating style classroom.
The Duderstadt Center also houses the UM3D Laborary. This lab hosts a Stereoscopic Geowall,
3D Render Farm, Virtual Reality CAVE, and a modeling and animation facility, among other services.
