Combined Bachelor's/Master's Programs
The following programs, Engineering Global Leadership Honors (EGL) and Sequential Graduate and Undergraduate Studies (SGUS), are available for chemical engineering students interested in pursuing joint BSE and MSE or MEng degrees. For more information visit the ChE undergraduate office at 3090 Dow.
Engineering Global Leadership Honors Program (EGL)
BSE Chemical Engineering/MSE Chemical Engineering The Engineering Global Leadership Honors Program (EGL) allows students to complement their chemical engineering background with courses in the School of Business Administration, and global-focused courses in LS&A. The program produces students capable of communicating across the engineering and business boundary of operating comfortably in another culture. The program leads to two degrees: a BSE ChE and an MSE ChE degree. There is no double counting of credits. BSE/MSE ChE Engineering Global Leadership Information Sheet (PDF) |
Sequential Graduate and Undergraduate Studies (SGUS) Programs for Chemical Engineering Students
MSE Chemical Engineering
This program allows students to complete requirements for both the BSE and MSE degrees in chemical engineering in five years. A research-based option and an industrial-practicum-based option are available. Students typically apply for the program early in the second semester of their junior year. GPA of 3.5 required. |
MSE Biomedical Engineering This integrated program allows students to complete a Master's degree with two semesters of study beyond that required for the BS in chemical engineering. GPA of 3.2 required. BSE/MSE BME Information Sheet (PDF) |
MSE Environmental and Water Resource Engineering This five year program allows chemical engineering students who are interested in environmental engineering to complete an MSE EWRE degree. It provides better trained environmental engineers at the entry level of the profession who have a strong chemical engineering background as well. GPA of 3.5 required. |
MSE Macromolecular Science and Engineering A 3.2 GPA is required to apply for this program. BSE ChE/MSE Macromolecular Science and Engineering (PDF) |
MSE Materials Science and Engineering This Sequential Graduate Undergraduate Studies (SGUS) program allows students to complete requirements for both degrees in five years. An overall GPA of 3.5 or above at time of admission is required. GRE scores are not required, but will be considered if provided. BSE ChE/MSE Materials Science and Engineering (PDF) |
MSE Industrial and Operations Engineering
This five year program leads to BSE(ChE) and MSE(IOE) degrees. Students typically specialize in Engineering Management, Ergonomics/Safety, Financial Engineering, Operations Research, Production/ Manufacturing Systems, or Statistical Decision Making/Quality Engineering. GPA of 3.5 required. |
M. Eng. Manufacturing The program leads to the Master of Engineering in Manufacturing (M.Eng.) as offered by the Program in Manufacturing (PIM) and MEM-TMI simultaneously with a BS in Chemical Engineering. GPA of 3.6 and work experience required. BSE ChE/MEng Manufacturing Information Sheet (PDF) |
M. Eng. Pharmaceutical Engineering
This five year BSE in Chemical Engineering and M. Eng. in Pharmaceutical Engineering program will allow qualified undergraduate Chemical Engineering students to complete the practical training but receive a BS and M. Eng. degrees simultaneously within 5 years. GPA of 3.5 required. |
