Short Bio

J. P. Sheehan is an Assistant Research Scientist in the Aerospace Engineering Department at the University of Michigan where he performs research on electric propulsion devices for spacecraft.  His main focus is on developing the CubeSat Ambipolar Thruster, a miniature plasma engine for nanosatellites.  Other interests include basic plasma physics questions such as plasma dynamics and instabilities as well as high-altitude balloons.
