The Stephen and Rosamund Forrest Family Foundation has contributed a gift for endowment to benefit the College of Engineering and College of Literature, Science and the Arts. The Foundation has established the Forrest Family Endowed Scholarship Fund in each college to provide need-based support to undergraduate students. The scholarships will be used to attract and retain out-of- state students with financial need, including, but not limited to those who are first in their families to attend college. This gift qualifies for the Bicentennial Opportunity Matching Initiative. The foundation trustees, Dr. Stephen R. Forrest (MS โ€™74, PhD โ€™79) and Rosamund M. Forrest (AM LS โ€™78), have generously established two other funds within Michigan Engineering to support graduate students in the fields of sustainability and energy. After working at USC and Princeton University, Dr. Forrest joined the University of Michigan as the Vice President for Research in 2006, and is currently the Paul G. Goebel Professor in Electrical Engineering and the Peter A. Franken Distinguished University Professor of Engineering. Among his many awards for academic and research achievements, Dr. Forrest is a fellow of the APS, IEEE and OSA. He is a member of the National Academy of Engineering, National Academy of Sciences, and National Academy of Inventors.
