To Our Community,

Michigan Engineering is a place for a special kind of engineer—someone who wants to make a difference. An undergraduate who built a school for poor residents of the Brazilian Pantanal. A PhD student who is collaborating with the Michigan Kellogg Eye Center to stem the progression of glaucoma. A successful alumnus who is giving back by mentoring students at TechArb, our downtown student venture accelerator. People like you.

Strengthened by 70,000 Engineering alumni and countless friends, a public mission and the University’s across-the-board academic excellence—95 graduate programs in the US News top ten—we’ve stretched well beyond renowned technical leadership and superb career preparation. We’re focused on growing a creative community. Examples include:

  • MCubed, a revolutionary research funding program providing immediate startup resources, without grant proposals, to faculty members pursuing novel, high-risk and transformative interdisciplinary projects;
  • LivingArts, the nation’s first engineering/arts living-learning community;
  • The Center for Entrepreneurship, the country’s top engineering entrepreneurship program, including a joint master’s degree with the Ross School of Business.

Meanwhile, the College maintains top-ten rankings in nearly every undergraduate and graduate engineering program. The University of Michigan remains the nation’s leading public university by research volume.

Whether you are a prospective faculty member or student, a partner organization, a graduate or a friend of the College, we invite you to join with us to make your impact on the world.
