Reserving a Lab

Several CAEN computing labs are available for reservation by College of Engineering faculty for course-related instructional use. All reservation requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

CAEN labs have varying degrees of capabilities and instructional technology equipment. A comprehensive list of labs, equipment, capacity, and other details has been compiled as the CAEN Lab Comparison Chart. To request a reservation, click the button below for the online CAEN Lab Reservation Request Form. You can also call the CAEN Hotline (734-764-CAEN), Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and a consultant will submit a request for you.

General Rules

  • College of Engineering faculty and faculty-sponsored student instructors can submit reservation requests for course-related instructional use. Staff can also submit reservation requests for Engineering-related training sessions. Both one-time and reoccurring reservation requests can be submitted.
  • CAEN labs are available for reservation Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  • Reservations must be made at least 48 hours in advance, so proper advanced notice is available for drop-in lab usage.
  • A primary goal of the CAEN labs is to support general and flexible use by students on a drop-in, first-come first-served basis. Reservations can not, at the discretion of CAEN, adversely impact the general drop-in access of the labs.
  • The Engineering department where the CAEN lab is physically located may have negotiated special scheduling requirements and lab restrictions. Reservations need to meet these special requirements and restrictions (see below).
  • Reservations can be made for part, or all, of a CAEN lab. Please choose this option appropriately in the CAEN Lab Reservation Request Form. Please take into account that CAEN does not supply extra seats or equipment.
