Detailed Information
In order to streamline the testing of many complex engineering applications, CAEN will work with College of Engineering faculty and course instructors to test software that will be released on CAEN lab computers in Fall 2010. CAEN's goal is to ensure that all course software and critical applications are compatible with 64-bit Microsoft Windows 7 before the Fall 2010 term begins, and to give faculty an opportunity to use, test and then provide feedback well in advance.
Given the large number of applications in the CAEN software suite, CAEN is able to test only basic functionality of included applications. Further, it is assumed that those teaching courses have the greatest familiarity with the software used in their classes. CAEN relies heavily on faculty and other instructors to test the software they will use in their courses. Thorough testing and communication with CAEN by faculty and instructors will help ensure that all course software is ready by Fall 2010.
Computers with the latest release of the software environment are available on North Campus. All faculty and instructors are encouraged to test their course software at a time convenient for them, and to provide CAEN with feedback. All comments and questions are welcome, and can be submitted directly to CAEN staff using an online form.
