Online File Storage Services
College of Engineering students, faculty, and staff may have access to three categories of online file storage services provided by CAEN:
- Windows Home Directories for eligible CAEN Account holders
- Course storage for College of Engineering instructors, to support their course development
- Departmental storage for Engineering departments to support administrative activities
CAEN's online file storage services are Microsoft Windows-compatible, using U-M Windows Active Directory (UMROOT) users and groups to allocate space and manage access. CAEN online file storage can also be accessed remotely by operating systems like Mac OS and Linux. In addition, CAEN online file storage services offer access to an extensive system of backup snapshots, or checkpoints. Other features of the service include:
- Automated anti-virus scanning of user files
- Accessibility from on and off-campus using many protocols including SFTP and WebDAV
- Online and tape file backups and restorations
- Departmental online file storage replicated between two servers in geographically-separated data centers
