Overview of Xerox Printing
CAEN provides Xerox WorkCentre Pro printers in CAEN computer labs. When printing materials that may contain sensitive information, CAEN strongly recommends that you use the Secure Print feature of the Xerox printers. This feature allows you to specify a PIN which must be entered at the printer before your job can be released for printing. If you do not use the Secure Print feature, it will be possible for other users to print your document.
The Xerox printers can also copy, and scan-to-email documents on the flatbed or from the automatic document feeders. It costs the same amount to copy a page as it does to print one, but there is no charge for scanning documents to email.
How to Print to CAEN Xerox Printers
After selecting the Print option in your application, choose the printer for the lab you are in, then click Print. This will send your job to the Xerox printer. Approach the printer and swipe your Mcard through the printer's card reader:
A list of pending print jobs should appear on the printer's touchscreen. Please note that the printer will show you all jobs in its queue, not just your jobs. If the printer's screen is dark, press any key on the printer to wake it up. Locate your job in the list. You may have to scroll down by touching the down arrow in order to locate it. Once you have located your job, touch its entry in the list to select it:
Once you have selected your job, a window like the following will appear. If you wish to print your job, use the touchscreen to select the Release button. Your document should begin printing shortly. If the printer asks you for a PIN when you try to release your job, please refer to our secure printing instructions. You will not be able to delete your job unless you printed it using the secure print feature. If you did not use secure print and do not wish to print your job, the printer will automatically delete it after several hours. If you wish to select a different job, select the Close button, and the printer will return to the list of jobs:
After your job prints, the list of jobs will appear on the printer once again. If you have more jobs that you want to print or delete, you may do so at this time. If you are finished using the printer, you should press the button labelled QUIT on the card reader. This will log you out of the printer and prevent others from printing on your account. If you do not press QUIT, you will be automatically logged out after a short period of inactivity, but it is strongly recommended that you manually log out by pressing QUIT:
