A new vulnerability in the graphics rendering engine for Microsoft Windows, the Windows Meta File (WMF), was discovered late last week. This vulnerability lets computers come under attack if users visit harmful web sites or open malicious email attachments.

Microsoft has completed a patch for the vulnerability, and it is available via the Windows Update web page. Until the patch is installed, computer owners should be careful not to visit unfamiliar web sites or open email attachments from people they do not know.
