CAEN

CAEN currently provides the same configuration that it installs in CAEN computer labs to individual researchers for a monthly subscription fee. However, this subscription cost does present a barrier for faculty who would like to provide the CAEN lab software environment to a number of computers in a course-specific lab or learning resource center.  Although research-related funding allows faculty to pay for the CAEN software installation, there is usually no funding available to make the software available for instructional purposes. In some settings, having CAEN-configured computers close to benches or other lab equipment is very useful for students and their instructors. Over the last year CAEN has received several requests from College of Engineering faculty to make the CAEN lab software environment available at little or no cost for use in their departmental instructional labs. In an attempt to make the software available to departmental instructional labs without compromising CAEN’s financial capability to support its own labs, CAEN is announcing a cost-sharing program where departments and CAEN can provision these labs.
