Name Service Requests
CAEN provides College of Engineering faculty and staff with IP addresses and host names on the U-M network free of charge. If you need to add, remove, or change the IP address for a machine that will not be covered under any CAEN subscription plan, please visit the following online name service request form:
Computers that are covered under the CAEN Operating Environment (COE) do not need to submit a name service request. Name service is handled by CAEN during the installation process.
If you have a computer that does not need a static IP address or host name, you can set it up to dynamically obtain an IP address from a public pool in your area. For more information, see our page on Ethernet and DHCP access at CAEN.
