What browsers can I use to access the SharePoint server?
In order to take advantage of the full set of features that the SharePoint server provides, you should only use Microsoft's Internet Explorer browser. For the best results, you will want to use the newest version of Internet Explorer for Windows.
If you have trouble using Internet Explorer to access SharePoint, some additional configuration may be needed. Please click here.
What password should I use to log into the SharePoint server?
You will need to use your ENGIN Active Directory password. If you have an Exchange account, you will use the same password that you use to log into the Exchange server. For more information on this password, please see the following page:
If you have trouble using your ENGIN Domain password, or if you do not know it, please contact the CAEN Hotline.
I know my ENGIN domain password, but SharePoint still rejects me. What am I doing wrong?
Make sure you have been made a member of the site. Also, make sure that you are including the domain name along with your U-M uniqname to form the SharePoint username, i.e.:
engin\uniqname
How do I gain access to a particular SharePoint site?
The membership of a SharePoint site is managed by the original creator and/or designated adminsitrator of the site (similar to groups in the U-M Online Directory). You should contact the owner directly to request access.I continue to be prompted for my username/password, but I know I am logging in correctly. What else could be causing this?
If the problem persists, you may need to manually add the SharePoint web site to your list of trusted intranet sites. To do this for Internet Explorer version 6 and 7, complete the following steps:
- From the Tools menu, select Internet Options.
- In the Internet Options dialog box, click the Security tab, and then select Local intranet.
- Click the Sites button, and then click the Advanced button.
- Type the URL https://sharepoint.engin.umich.edu into the Add this Web site to the zone box, click Add, and click OK.
- Close the Internet Options dialog box; you may need to quit and restart Internet Explorer for the changes to take effect.
