How do I access my NAS course directory?
Course directories on CAEN's NAS server can be accessed at the following server address:
Alternatively, you may use SFTP or SCP to connect to vs3.engin.umich.edu, with UMROOT\uniqname as your user name. Once connected, open the folder called Course and you should see course directories listed by term. For more information on connecting to the CAEN NAS server, please see:
Note: If you are connecting to the server from off-campus, there are a few things to consider:
If you connect to the Internet via a commercial service provider (ISP) such as Comcast, you may not be able to access your space directly as described above. For security reasons, some ISPs block this kind of network traffic. You can bypass this block by using SFTP as described above, or by establishing a remote virtual private network (VPN) connection. See this page for VPN information and downloads:
You may be prompted to log in when connecting from an off-campus location. Log in with UMROOT\uniqname as your user name, and use your ITCS Active Directory (UMROOT) password. If you have never set this password before and/or you are having trouble logging in, you can set your UMROOT password here:
