Network-Attached Storage (NAS)
CAEN provides network-attached storage (NAS) file space to departments for administrative purposes. CAEN does not provide space for research projects, labs, organizations, centers, or groups without cost. These groups must pay for their own research space, which includes any and all material related to the research area.
NAS space may be purchased from CAEN on an annual basis. The current rate for NAS space is $20 / 1 GB / year. This rate is subject to change, and it is best to check with the CAEN Administrative Office for the current rate before submitting a CAEN Equipment & Service Form (ESF) to order space. Quotas are set in this area based on the amount of space purchased as listed on the ESF.
Note: There is currently no mechanism to link Windows storage space to the web.
AFS Storage
Engineering departments who would like to obtain AFS storage space can take advantage of services offered by ITCS. ITCS provides a generous amount of AFS space to store files and post information on the web. This space is commonly located at /afs/umich.edu/group/. To request AFS space, simply fill out the form listed on the following web page, and submit it to the ITCS Accounts Office:
