Our staff includes University of Michigan engineering staff and students including several PhD candidates. Many students return to camp year after year, and many go on to become University computer science and engineering students. In fact, several former campers are now instructors! Here is some information about our current staff for the upcoming season.

Ann Gordon, the Director of Camp CAEN, started the camp program in 1994. She holds a M.S.E. degree in Computer Science from the University of Michigan and also holds a degree in Education. Her main interests are Web Design, Web Development, Computer Graphics, and Photography. |

Joseph Lee will be the Head Instructor for the 2007 season. Joe attended camp as a high school student many years ago and is a camp enthusiast. He is also working on his doctoral degree in computer science here at the College of Engineering. Joseph's main areas of interest are Technology in Education, along with C# and Game Development. |

Tony is a PhD student in the University of Michigan Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. His research interests include mobile and ubiquitous computing, networking, security, A.I., and operating systems. He also enjoys soccer, basketball, travel, and photography. Tony has taught several classes at the University and is looking forward to teaching young people next summer. (His wife is an elementary school teacher:) |

Ayesha is a Master's student at the University of Michigan Biomedical Engineering Department. She has been an RA at the U of M Residence Halls for the past two years and will be the head RA camp this seasons. She enjoys playing sports, games, watching movies, and hanging out in her free time. |

Julie S. Weber is a doctoral student in computer science at U-Michigan. Her research interests lie in artificial intelligence, and specifically in the way that computers can assist people with cognitive disabilities. She loves teaching, and is a Java programmer at heart but enjoys other languages, her favorite of which is Haskell. |

Elena Godina has been a Camp CAEN instructors for the past three years. Elena graduated from Odess Art School in the Ukraine. Her areas of expertise are Flash Animation, User Interface Design, and Illustrations. She brings a lot of artistic talent and enthusiasm to the camp program. |

Scott Ash is a professional graphic artist whose interests include 3D modeling, animation, and web development. Scott is looking forward to sharing his multitude of talents with young people. |

Nick Beier is a former long time Camp CAEN student, and is now an undergraduate student at the U-M College of Engineering . He will be helping out with the introductory Java and Graphics classes this summer. |

Brian Fairburn has attended Camp CAEN for 4 years as a camper and 2 years as a CIT. He now attends the University of Colorado at Boulder, where he is a freshman in Electrical and Computer Engineering. His main interests are video games, AI, Robots, and other computer related topics. |

Adam Hinkhouse is another Camp CAEN former student. He is now an undergraduate engineering student at the University of Kansas. Adam will be an instructor in the Introductory Java classes this summer. |

Chris Robb is a former Camp CAEN student who has a passion for 3D Modeling. Now, an engineering student, Chris will be assisting with the 3D Modeling and VR class. |

Mark Ito is a former Camp CAEN student and CIT. This will be Mark's first year as a regular staff member. Mark is currently a freshman at the University of Michigan. Outside of school, his major interests include java programming, computer hardware, technology gadgets, table tennis, regular tennis, and ultimate frisbee. |

Samantha Schumacher is a former Camp CAEN student /CIT who is now a freshman at the U-M College of Engineering. Sam loves sports cars and working on them. She also likes to build computers and trouble-shoot programming problems to help others with their computer dilemmas. She also enjoys sketching, music, video games, going to the movies and hanging out with her friends. Sam will be an assistant instructor this year and will also be helping out in the residence halls. |

Rich Franklin is also a U-M College of Engineering undergraduate student who previously attended Camp CAEN as a camper. Rich will be helping teach the C# classes this summer. |

Mitchell Bloch is a U-M Engineering upperclassman who will be the lead instructor for the Advanced C++ Game Development class this year. He is currently building his own cross-platform 3D game engine that uses OpenGL and DirectX 9. MItchell is currently the President of Wolverine Soft, the video game development student group at the University of Michigan http://entity.eecs.umich.edu/~wsoft/. |

Jeff Weiner is a U-M College of Engineering undergraduate student who also previously attended Camp CAEN as a student. A talented programmer himself, Jeff will be helping out with the Intermediate C++ (AI) and Advanced C++ (Game Dev) classes. |

Alex Mandrilla is an undergraduate student at Eastern Michigan University where he studies Electronic Media and Film Studies. He has a lot of experience with audio and video recording, broadcasting, editing, and other media techniques. And he is also an experienced Flash developer and Java programmer. |
