3D Modeling and Virtual Reality Workshop

NOTE: This class FILLS up QUICKLY!

(No previous programming experience required.)

Learn the inside scoop on Virtual Reality. Explore in-depth 3D modeling and rendering. Learn low-polygon modeling and other techniques that are used in the creation of games and animation. Work individually or in pairs to create your own 3D spaces and objects. Learn about Virtual Reality by touring the Duderstadt Center Virtual Reality CAVE and immersing yourself in the 3D experience. During the class, you will be doing the following:

  • Gain an understanding of basic graphics concepts (image, models, movies)
  • Learn about 3-D geometry (vertices, lines, triangles)
  • Visualize 3D spaces and manipulate objects in 3-D space
  • Create simple geometric models
  • Build more complex geometric models from 2-D lines
  • Make and modify arbitrarily complex 3-D models
  • Manipulate 3-D Studio MAX materials
  • Do texture mapping
  • Create images and movies from 3-D scenes
  • Animate objects in 3-D space through keyframing
  • Utilize light and shadow techniques
