Obtaining a CAEN Account
Students - Most new and/or incoming College of Engineering (CoE) students receive their CAEN account during orientation. However, if you are a currently enrolled CoE student and have not yet received your CAEN account, you must visit the CAEN Hotline. Non-Engineering students who are taking Engineeing courses and require a CAEN account should also visit the Hotline. Be sure to bring your Mcard with you to prove your identity and provide us with your UM ID #.
Access to CAEN resources cannot be issued unless a student's enrollment can be verified by official University data, provided by Wolverine Access or MAIS. CAEN reserves the right to remove CAEN computing access for any student who is no longer eligible for reasons such as withdrawing from courses or transferring out of Engineering during the semester, even if this date is outside of the normal account expiration period.
Faculty & Staff - New College of Engineering faculty and staff can also receive their CAEN account from the CAEN Hotline. In order to expedite the verification of employment at the CoE, the Hotline asks that faculty and staff members bring their Mcard for proof of employment status. Alternatively, designated departmental administrators may use the CAEN account request form to request an account. Access to CAEN resources cannot be issued unless employment can be verified by official University data, provided by Wolverine Access or MAIS.
Note: Access to CAEN computing resources is delegated using ITCS Kerberos (UMICH.EDU) and Active Directory (UMROOT) passwords for authentication. Individuals should obtain their ITCS computing account and passwords prior to requesting a CAEN account. For assistance, contact the ITCS Accounts Office:
