Alumni Society MedalThe Alumni Society Medal was established to honor College of Engineering graduates who have attained extraordinary achievement in a field of specialization and who have brought distinction to themselves and the College. It is the highest honor bestowed by the Engineering Alumni Society Board of Governors.

Alumni Society Recent Engineering Graduate AwardThe Alumni Society Recent Engineering Graduate Award was established to honor College of Engineering graduates who have contributed substantially to their fields within the first 10 years of graduating from the College. The selection of this award was made by the Alumni Society Selection Committee.

Alumni Society Distinguished Service AwardThe Alumni Society Distinguished Service Award was established to honor a College of Engineering graduate who has given generously of time and talent to further College projects and activities. Alumni Society Merit Awards

The Alumni Society Merit Awards were established to honor alumni who personify the College's tradition of excellence and who have achieved significant accomplishments in their professional lives.
The awards are given each year to graduates from each academic department. Recipients are selected by departmental committees, whose members are chosen and headed by the department chair.
Karl G. Bartscht (BSE IE '61, MSE '62), managing director, Epsilon Health Group LLC. He is a pioneer in health care consulting and has planned, designed and managed health care systems for over 30 years. He received the Alumni Society Merit Award in industrial and operations engineering.
David J. DeWitt (MSE '71, PhD '76), is the John P. Morgridge Professor of Computer Sciences, at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and recently completed a five-year term as department chair. He received the Alumni Society Merit Award in computer science.
William W. Graessley (BSE ChE '56, BS '56, MSE '57, PhD '60) is a professor emeritus of chemical engineering at Princeton University, and also served on the faculty of Northwestern University. He is an internationally renowned expert on polymers. He received the Alumni Society Merit Award in chemical engineering.
Marshall G. Jones (BSE ME '65) is the senior research engineer and project leader in laser technology at the GE Global Research Center, where he has worked for 30 years. His most recent work is in the area of laser-fiber optic integration for factory automation and hot-wire laser processing. He received the Alumni Society Merit Award in mechanical engineering.
John R. (Chip) Keough (BSE ME '77, BSE MM '77) is the chief executive officer and owner of Applied Process Inc., a heat treating facility specializing in the Austempering process. He's a renowned expert in the area of foundry and heat treat-related topics. He received the Alumni Society Merit Award in materials science and engineering.
Thomas A. Mehlhorn (BSE NE '74, MSE '76, PhD '78) is a manager of high energy density physics and inertial confinement fusion target design at Sandia National Laboratories, where he has been since 1978. He has earned the Sandia Award for Excellence in 1995 for leading a team that achieved a world record lithium beam intensity. He received the Alumni Society Merit Award in nuclear engineering and radiological sciences.
Martin G. Mlynczak ((PhD '89) is a senior research scientist in atmospheric sciences at the NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, Va. Mlynczak is also associate editor of Journal of Geophysical Research-Space Physics. He received the Alumni Society Merit Award in atmospheric, oceanic and space sciences
Robert G. Radwin (MSE '79, MS '79, PhD '86) is professor and founding chair of the Department of Biomedical Engineering, and holds an appointment in the Department of Industrial Engineering at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He's been on faculty there since 1987 and helped start the biomedical engineering program in 1998. He received the Alumni Society Merit Award in biomedical engineering.
Lester Rosenblatt (BSE NAME '42) was co-founder of M. Rosenblatt & Son. He was elected to the International Maritime Hall of Fame and his company did original or modification design work on most of the Navy's ships. He received the Alumni Society Merit Award, posthumously, in naval architecture and marine engineering.
Kenneth H. Stokoe II (BSE CE '66, MSE '67, PhD '72) is the Jennie C. and Milton T. Graves Chair in Engineering at the University of Texas Austin, where he has been on the faculty since 1973. His research centers on in-situ seismic measurement, laboratory measurements of dynamic material properties and dynamic soil-structure interaction. He received the Alumni Society Merit Award in civil and environmental engineering.
Jack L. Walker (MSE '67, PhD '74) is an independent consultant in the area of sensor system analysis and is known for his work in radar remote sensing systems and synthetic aperture radar. He retired in 2000 from Veridian ERIM International Inc. after 36 years in various technical and management positions. He received the Alumni Society Merit Award in electrical engineering.
Charla Ann (Kamm) Wise (BSE AS '75) is the vice president and deputy of company operations for Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company. She gave the commencement address for the College of Engineering in 2002. She received the Alumni Society Merit Award in aerospace engineering.
