Students Post YouTube Video of Project

Four teams of engineering students under the direction of Shorya Awtar, an assistant professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, put in a lot of hard hours designing and building full-size balancing scooters that resemble the Segway Human Transporter. But that wasn't enough work for several students who put together a video of their project and posted it on YouTube:

CoE Students Among Teams Sweeping National Competition

CoE students were among the four University of Michigan teams that captured the $15,000 first prize, $5,000 third prize and $2,000 fourth prize, and shared the $10,000 second prize, in the national CleanTech Venture Challenge, which was hosted by the Deming Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Ruba Borno and Tzeno Galchev, doctoral students in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, were members of Potentia, the team that took first prize. Mechanical Engineering doctoral student Jim Beyer was a member of team EnDep Systems, which collared fourth place. Read the details at http://www.engin.umich.edu/news/cleantech.
