Michael Falk and Kim Hayes have been honored. Falk, Dow Corning Assistant Professor of Materials Science and Engineering, and Hayes, professor, CEE, have received grants from the Gilbert Whitaker Fund for the Improvement of Teaching. Hayes has also received the University of Michigan Distinguished Faculty Achievement Award. Falk is also the recipient of this year’s 1938E Award.

 

 

foglerScott Fogler, Vennema Professor of Chemical Engineering, delivered the 2004 Krug Lecture at the School of Chemical Sciences at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. He was the first chemical engineer to receive this lectureship since its inception in 1974.

Krishna Garikipati, Mark Lewis, Brian Noble and Thomas Zurbuchen have received multiple honors. The Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers was presented to Assistant Professor Garikipati, ME, Associate Professor Zurbuchen, AOSS, and Assistant Professor Lewis, IOE. Garikipati has also received the U.S. Department of Energy’s Early Career Scientist and Engineer Award and has been elected to receive an Alexander von Humboldt Foundation Fellowship. Garikipati and Noble, associate professor, EECS, have each received a Ruth and Joel Spira Outstanding Teaching Award.  Noble has also received a 2004-05 Michigan Engineering Education Excellence Award. Zurbuchen has also received a 2004-05 College of Engineering Service Excellence Award. Lewis has also received the Sloan Foundation’s Mentor of the Year award and the 2004 Harold R. Johnson Diversity Service Award.
