Engineering Science and Management War Training Program
From 1941 to 1945, the College participated in the Engineering Science and Management War Training Program, preparing more than 12,500 men and women for immediate service to industry. Of this number, 1,837 were full-time on-campus trainees; the others received part-time training at various locations around the state. Professor Robert Sherlock coordinated the efforts at the College, which took part in several other wartime programs, including the Army Specialized Training Program and the Navy V-12 Program. Michigan Engineering's contributions to the war effort were a significant act of patriotism at a time when the demands of World War II were taxing the national infrastructure.
