Douglas Dunn and Robert and Nancy Denner Extend Their Commitments
M. Douglas Dunn (BSE ME ’67), chair of the Michigan Engineering Fund, and Robert (BSE IE ’73, MBA ’75) and Nancy Denner, co-chairs of the Parents’ Program, will continue in their leadership roles for another academic year.
Dunn explained the reason for his involvement: “During my first year as chair of the Michigan Engineering Fund,” he said, “I was privileged to meet with students and discuss their projects and experience at Michigan. To be able to attract and educate students with such obvious enthusiasm and ability is a tremendous return on our investment in the Fund, whether large or small.”
Denner agreed, saying, “Many people don't realize that even though Michigan is a public institution, less than fifty percent of funding comes from state support, tuition and fees. Gifts from alumni, parents and friends, including support of the Michigan Engineering Fund, are critical to continuing the College's excellence. I know my Michigan education was the key to launching me on my successful career and, over the years, I have come to appreciate that in many ways it was the generosity of those who came before me that made it all possible.” Bob’s and Nancy’s youngest son, Jim, is a senior in Industrial and Operations Engineering.
