Heather Newman is the technology columnist for The Detroit Free Press.

Alice Rhein (BA ‘84, MS ‘86) is a freelance writer whose work has appeared in the Christian Science Monitor, Michigan Living, Hour Detroit and numerous regional publications. She is the former assistant managing editor of the Observer & Eccentric Newspapers and a frequent contributor to Michigan Alumnus magazine. She has also served as a commentator on National Public Radio’s “All Things Considered.”

Debbie Feit (BA ‘88) is a freelance writer living in Farmington, Michigan. After ten years of working as an advertising copywriter, she began writing feature articles and personal essays. She was the editor of The Big Idea magazine. As a freelancer, her work has appeared in Conde Nast Bride’s, Good Housekeeping, American Baby, Bridal Guide, Mode, Pet Life and other publications. Kim Roth is a freelance writer who has contributed to the Chicago Tribune, the Chronicle of Philanthropy, the Washington Post and the Gale Group E-Commerce Sourcebook (forthcoming).

Freelance writer Karen Thomas (BA ‘75) is an Ann Arbor resident, a U-M Phi Beta Kappa and a former medical writer for the U-M Health System. Her work appears regularly in national magazines, such as McCall’s, Family Circle, American Profile and Hope, and in numerous regional magazines, including the U-M Medical School alumni magazine.
