Internal (U-M) Transfer Students

This page is for students who have completed college coursework on the Ann Arbor campus only and have not exceeded 55 credit hours. If you have more than 55 credit hours or have attended another college or university in addition to U of M-Ann Arbor, see Combined Cross-Campus guidelines.

Guidelines for Cross-Campus Transfers

Each program has two minimum GPA requirements for transfer admission : (1) cumulative GPA and (2) cumulative math, science and engineering core GPA. The minimum GPA and prerequisite requirements are mandatory for engineering transfer admission but are subject to change and do not guarantee admission.

Each of the College's 15 degree programs requires prerequisites and a minimum GPA for transfer admission.

Application Deadlines:
(to receive equal consideration)

March 1st for Fall term. Extended to March 28th for Fall 2008 term only
October 1st for Winter term

Prerequisites:

Students seeking admission to a degree program must complete, at minimum, the following prerequisites. (Grades in math, chemistry, and physics should be at least "B" level.)
  • Calculus:Two semesters, Math 115 and 116 (If A.P. Credit has been earned, elect the next two courses in the series.)
  • Physics: One semester of physics (calculus-based) with labs: Physics 140 and 141
  • Chemistry: One semester of chemistry with labs: Chemistry 130/125L/126L or 210/211L (depending on Chemistry Placement test results) 125 & 126 Labs are not required for Chemical and Biomedical Engineering; Biomedical Engineering requires 210/211 in addition to 130.
  • Computing: One semester of computing -- Introduction to Computers and Programming (Engr. 101 or EECS 183)
  • English: One of the English courses listed below

  • Please Note: Sixteen (16) credits of Humanities and Social Sciences are required for graduation, six (6) of which must be humanities. One sequence of courses in a humanities or social science department with one course at the junior/senior level is also required. All 16 credits of humanities and social sciences need not be completed prior to transfer.
