Combined Cross-Campus Transfer Students

This information is for current UM-Ann Arbor students who have previously attended other colleges/universities and seek admission to the College of Engineering.

Prerequisites:

Students seeking admission to a degree program must complete, at minimum, the following prerequisites. (Grades in math, chemistry, and physics should be at least "B" level)

  • Humanities and Social Sciences: Sixteen (16) credits of HU and SS are required for graduation, 6 of which must be humanities. One sequence of courses in a humanities or social science department with one course at the junior/senior level is also required - see College of Engineering Bulletin. (order a copy)
  • English: A minimum of 4 credits of English composition/writing from a school outside of UM or one of the English courses at UM listed below

  • Calculus: Two years of Math 115, 116, 215 and 216
  • Physics: One year of physics (calculus-based) with labs: Physics 140, 141L; Physics 240, 241L
  • Chemistry: One semester of chemistry with labs: Chemistry 130/125L/126L or 210/211L (depending on Chemistry Placement Test results) 125 & 126 Labs are not required for Chemical and Biomedical Engineering. Chemical and Biomedical Engineering requires two semesters of organic chemistry: 210, 211L and 215, 216L.
  • Computing: One semester of Computer Programming in C++ is taken outside of UM or One semester of Introduction to Computers and Programming (Engr. 101) if taken at UM.
