Step-by-Step Create a New Performance Review

Note: This system is intended for supervisors only
  1. Navigate to https://www.engin.umich.edu/perfreview/ and login using uniqname and Kerberos password (if needed).

  2. Read the information in the Instructions for managing your reviews section.

  3. Under Links to get started, select Create a Performance Review.

    Step 3

  4. Type/select information in all required fields (required fields are preceded by a red asterisk *).

For the simplest and least time-consuming version of a review, you would:

    1. Create a new review

    2. Enter the required demographic information

    3. Enter text in the two Goals and Objectives fields

    4. Save the review

Most required fields default to the most common values to save you time. To give an employee a rating that's different from the default, you'll need to select the appropriate rating for each category. All comments are optional, except when you change a rating to Not Meeting Expectations or Approaching. For those two ratings, comments are required. In general, you can fill in as many or as few comments as you'd like, depending on your evaluation style.

  5. After you've completed all required fields on the form, click the Save button (located in the top and bottom left - can use either one). If you don't save the form before exiting, all of your work will be lost, so it's very important to remember to Save!!!

    Step 5a

If you attempt to save without populating all required fields, the system displays an error message to remind you to complete all required fields. Required fields that are not completed are highlighted in red to help guide you. Until the required fields are filled out the performance review has not been saved.

    Step 5b

  6. After you've saved a review, it appears in your My Reviews in Progress list. From this list, you can choose to View or Edit any review you've previously created.

    Step 6

  7. After you've finalized a form and reviewed it with the employee to ensure you both agree it is final, you'll need to use the Print function within the form to print a properly formatted final copy. This copy will include signature lines for both supervisor and employee.

  8. Send the final signed copy to RPM.
