About the Event
Dear Faculty, Staff and Students:
This year "Clean Up Day" will be held on Monday, May 23, 2005. It is a day in which we are all encouraged to participate in cleaning up our personal office areas as well as volunteer a couple of hours to assist in the recycling process for the College of Engineering. Many volunteers are needed for cart management, sorting/shredding, assisting at dock locations, assisting in the re-use rooms, day before prep, end of day clean up and wrap up on Tuesday, May 24.
This day is not just about "cleaning" -- but rather a day to focus on being more environmentally friendly. This will be our second bi-annual clean up day. It is a day where the normal work day is put on hold, and all units/departments are asked to provide only basic coverage of reception/phones.
Lunch will be provided. Please visit the web to find your designated lunch room or ask the Volunteer Captain for your area.
Clean Up Day Sign-Up Sheets will be available from the Volunteer Captain in each department or unit. Please sign up on the sheet by May 13 for one of the volunteer roles. The outcome of this year's Clean Up Day is important and will help to ensure this effort will be continued.
Thank you in advance for your participation in Clean Up Day, and for your continuing support in making the College shine!

A previous message from Stephen Director:
Dear Colleagues,
The College of Engineering’s second College-wide Clean Up Day has been scheduled for Monday, May 23, 2005 with the potential for clean up activities to continue on May 24th. A leadership team has been charged with planning this event, incorporating improvements suggested as a result of our first and highly successful College-wide Clean Up Day that was held in May 2003.
The success of this important initiative will depend on your commitment to participate. I hope you will make that commitment and
- to the extent possible, avoid scheduling meetings/events/external visitors, etc., on May 23 and 24
- arrange things so that the staff who you supervise can take time from their regular work so that they will be available to participate in clean up activities
- begin thinking about your own involvement in Clean Up Day
You will soon be hearing directly from our Clean Up Day Leadership Team on how you can get involved. I hope you will stay abreast of the plans for May 23-24. I know with your enthusiasm and support we can exceed the clean up milestones we set in 2003.
Best regards,
Steve
