Research Faculty may be appointed to one of three tracks within the College of Engineering: Research Professor track, Research Scientist track, or supplemental Research Faculty track.  The following information outlines the process for research faculty appointment within each track.

Appointing Research Scientist Track Faculty
The Research Scientist track includes the following ranks: research investigator, assistant research scientist, associate research scientist and research scientist.  Please refer to Chapter 2 of the Research Faculty Handbook and Appendices for appointment procedures related to this track. 

Appointing Research Professor Track Faculty
The research professor track includes the following ranks: research associate professor and research professor.  Please refer to Chapter 4 of the Research Faculty Handbook and Appendices for appointment procedures related to this track. 

Appointing Supplemental Research Faculty
The supplemental research faculty track encompasses visiting and adjunct research faculty.  Please refer to Chapter 6 of the Research Faculty Handbook and Appendices for faculty appointment procedures related to this track.
