Competition Announcement, August 9, 2006
Dean David Munson and Interim Associate Dean for Research George Carignan are pleased to announce that funding is available to enable several College of Engineering (CoE) faculty to acquire new equipment needed to help them move their research and/or teaching in new directions. Proposals for equipment that would be shared by two or more faculty are especially encouraged.
Program Details:
- CoE tenured/tenure-track and research faculty with at least a 50% appointment are eligible to apply
- The equipment to be purchased must range in cost from $25,000 to $100,000
- Awards are for the equipment purchase only; maintenance/service contracts, associated facility renovations, technician support, etc., are the responsibility of the faculty and their departments
- The proposed equipment must be available for purchase/installation no later than June 30, 2007
- All proposals must be approved by the relevant Department Chairs and they must certify that space is available for the proposed new equipment
- All requests must be submitted on the form that follows this announcement
- Proposals are due in the Office of the Associate Dean for Research by 5:00 pm on Friday, October 6, 2006
- Decisions on which proposals to fund will be made by the CoE deans; up to 8 awards will be announced by Friday, November 17, 2006
- Questions about this special initiative can be addressed to David Munson or George Carignan
- Although this is the second year we have been fortunate enough to provide this special initiative to the faculty, the funding for this initiative comes from a non-recurring source; it is not currently known if the initiative will be repeated in future years
- Awardees will be required to submit a progress report on the use of their new equipment by September 21, 2007
