Alec D. Gallimore, Ph.D., Associate Dean for Research
and Graduate Education
Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Education in the College of Engineering, and a member of the Applied Physics graduate program. From 2005 to 2011, Professor Gallimore served as an Associate Dean at the Horace H. Rackham School of Graduate Studies where he was the Graduate School liaison to Michigan’s graduate programs in engineering, the physical sciences, and mathematics. Professor Gallimore's primary research interests include electric propulsion, plasma diagnostics, space plasma simulation, electrode physics, nano-particle energetics and hypersonic aerodynamics/plasma interaction. He has extensive design and testing experience with a number of electric propulsion devices including Hall thrusters, ion thrusters, RF thrusters, microwave thrusters, arcjets, 100-kW-class steady MPD thrusters and multimegawatt pulsed coaxial plasma accelerators. He has implemented a variety of probe, microwave, and optical/laser plasma diagnostics, and has graduated 31 Ph.D. students and 11 M.S. students in the fields of electric propulsion and plasma physics. Professor Gallimore has written more than 285 archival journal articles and conference papers, and 2 book chapters.Professor Gallimore is also director of the NASA-funded Michigan Space Grant Consortium and served as a member of the United States Air Force Scientific Advisory Board.

Mike Nazareth, Director for Graduate Recruiting
Mike received his BA from Boise State University in Mathematics Education in 1992. He has also completed graduate level courses from the University of Idaho in Educational Administration and School Counseling. His background entails teaching experience in secondary schools from 1992-1994, recruiting and admissions at the College of Southern Idaho from 1994-1998, and recruiting, admissions, student services, and retention at the University of Michigan from 1998 to present. Mike leads the Office of Graduate Education for the College of Engineering. He directs graduate student recruitment, retention activities and summer research programs. Outside of work Mike enjoys spending time with his kids, coaching youth soccer teams, live music, coordinating tri-annual food drives with his church and volunteering at the Ann Arbor Homeless Shelter.

Andria Rose, Coordinator for Graduate Education Programs
Andria attended UM from 1991-1995, during which time she participated in the flag section of the Michigan Marching Band, and graduated with a BA in psychology. Prior to her current position, Andria worked at the UM North Campus Family Health Service, a home health care facility, and at the UM Alumni Association. Since joining the College of Engineering in 2001, Andria's duties have included facilitating the Graduate Student Advisory Committee, the Lunch with a Graduate Student program, the Just ASK mentoring porgram, event planning, and web maintenance. Outside of work, Andria volunteers in her daughters' classrooms and holds multiple leadership positions for Girl Scouts.

Shira Washington, Coordinator for Graduate Education Programs
Shira graduated from the University of Michigan in 2005 with a BA in Communication Studies. Prior to her arrival to the Office of Graduate Education, Shira worked in alumni relations with the Alumni Association of U-M. She has also worked in media, higher education, public affairs, the non-profit sector as well as retail sales. Outside of work Shira's personal interests include, music (singing and playing instruments), theatre and writing poetry. She is currently writing her first novel and completing her first volume of poetry.

Colleen Root, Assistant to the Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Education
Colleen Root is the Administrative Assistant Senior for the Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Education. She rejoined the College of Engineering in 2012, after working in the Dean’s Office at the Rackham Graduate School where she was responsible for managing the Visiting Scholars Program, coordinating training grants, along with her other administrative duties.

Elizabeth Wagner, Project Manager
Office of the Associate
Dean for Research and Graduate Education
Elizabeth has a BA in English Literature from Eastern Michigan University and a Technical Writing Certificate from Washtenaw Community College. She has an eclectic professional background, having worked to develop programs and teach skills in areas ranging from grant-writing to OSHA/CLIA compliance to gourmet cooking. She has had the opportunity to travel in Australia and Europe, as well as live in Asia, and loves working with students and faculty from around the world. Currently she is project manager for the Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Education.
