Mathieu is a 4th year Mechanical Engineering student. He entered in Fall 2008, and has been battling ever since. Mathieu left the sun-kissed island of Jamaica to pursue his undergraduate studies at the sun-bathed University of Florida campus. After determining that work was not for him, Mathieu decided to pursue a PhD at Michigan with a focus in Orthopedic Bio-Mechanics. Mathieu's research is centered around investigating the mechanics behind the disease Osteogenesis Imperfecta, which negatively affects bone mass and fragility.
Mathieu's passion on the Michigan campus is mentoring and service. Mathieu participates in The Detroit Partnership, where he tutors and mentors middle school children in their after school activities. Mathieu encourages all of you to participate in this program. Visit the website (thedp.org) to learn more. It is a great opportunity to give back to the surrounding community.
Mathieu also encourages you to participate in the Multicultural Engineering Programs Office Mentoring Program. This is another excellent way to mentor incoming freshman engineering students at UM.
Last but not least, Mathieu hopes that you will join the football (soccer) revolution in America. Visit the website FIFA.com to learn more about this amazing sport.
