Message from the Co-Chairs

Anurag and Abhishek

Welcome to the 2009 Engineering Graduate Symposium!

The Engineering Graduate Symposium is an on-campus, one-day conference designed to aid current and prospective students in developing a spirit of innovation and collaboration as well as honing their communication and research presentation skills. Since its inception in 2000 by the Mechanical Engineering Department, the Symposium has been highly instrumental in enabling graduate students at all stages to share their research, check out their peers' research, and network with other graduate students. In 2006, the Symposium underwent a remarkable expansion to encompass all the departments of the College of Engineering! In its current format, the Symposium is comprised of five key events: a keynote address, a poster session, concurrent oral presentations, an awards ceremony and a prospective student recruitment fair.

This year, the Symposium is expected to draw over 200 oral and poster presentations from around the College of Engineering. This provides a unique opportunity for you to participate in and help organize the Symposium. As a participant, you will have the chance to not only showcase your research but also review the latest pathbreaking research taking place around you. The Symposium also offers volunteers a great chance to develop leadership skills and network with people from around the College and beyond. With its friendly environment and interdisciplinary collaboration, the Engineering Graduate Symposium offers an ideal setting to share time and talent, making your Michigan experience truly memorable.

If you have any questions regarding the Symposium, or would like to get involved, please email symp09info@umich.edu. We look forward to seeing all of you on November 13th!

Sincerely,

Abhishek Chatterjee & Anurag Tripathi
